How to Ride a Bird Electric Scooter: A Comprehensive Guide

Electric scooters have taken the world by storm, offering an eco-friendly, convenient, and enjoyable way to travel short distances. Bird is one of the leading electric scooter rental companies, providing scooters in cities across the world. If you're looking to give Bird scooters a try, follow our step-by-step guide on how to ride a Bird electric scooter.

  1. Download the Bird app: To start, you'll need to download the Bird app on your smartphone. The app is available for Android and iPhone users and is essential for locating, unlocking, and paying for your scooter rides.

  2. Create an account: Once the app is downloaded, create an account using your email address and a password. You'll also need to enter your payment information.

  3. Find a scooter: Use the app's map to locate a Bird scooter nearby. Most cities have designated parking areas for scooters, making it easy to find one.

  1. Unlock the scooter: Once you find a scooter, tap the 'unlock' button in the app and scan the QR code located on the scooter rental companies' handlebars. The scooter will beep, and the lock icon in the app will turn green, indicating that it's ready for use.

  2. Put on a helmet: Safety should always be your first priority. Be sure to wear a helmet while riding any electric scooter, including Bird electric scooter.

  3. Start your ride: To start your ride, press down on the throttle, located on the right handlebar. However, you'll first need to give the scooter a push-off with your foot scooter a to gain some momentum, then the throttle will kick in, and the scooter will begin to accelerate.

  1. Braking: To slow down or stop, use the scooter's handbrake, usually located on the left handlebar. Some Bird scooters also have foot brakes, which can be found on the rear wheel's fender.

  2. Navigate safely: It's essential to follow local traffic laws, like riding in designated bike lanes (where available), and not on sidewalks. Additionally, be cautious around pedestrians and always yield the right-of-way.

  3. Parking: When you've completed your ride, park the scooter in a designated parking area or somewhere it won't obstruct sidewalks, ramps, or doorways. Open the Bird app, tap 'end ride,' and take a photo of the scooter's parked location.

By following these simple steps, you'll be well on your way to enjoying a fun, easy, and environmentally friendly ride on a bird electric scooter!
